DURGAMA - Development and Urban Research for
Growth and Advancement of Mothers in Asia
The DURGA MA project seeks to research & collate a series
of case-studies to improve our understanding of the variety of
existing needs and strategies in relation to gender and eWork.
This project would contribute significantly to policy changes
& Inclusion of eWork as mainstream work methods.
 |
The main targetgroups in this project are
the Urban Women in the Silicon Valley of India, Bangalore,
working in various sectors like IT industry, call centres
and BPO outfits. The growth of the IT Sector in Bangalore
has added to the stress levels, deteriorating traffic conditions
and health issues. Today the lack of flexibility at work
affects the sanity of working women and thereby preventsa
better work family balance. Many women leave the workforce
when they get married or when they have children.
Othertarget groups include corporations
interested in flexible work, Education institutions/ academics,
Corporations, SME Employers, Trade Unions, Women support
groups, Other SIG and NGOs, National/local government representatives,
ICT Sector representatives, Chambers of commerce. The main
Activity of this action is to liaise with international
programmes to help create a knowledge base / training material
to educate the Indian Urban working woman on e-working and
by involving corporations and other employers to create
a community of e-workers aiming towards happier family life.
